چکیده
We use the density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) to map out the ground state of a XY-spin chain coupled to dispersionless phonons of frequency ω. We confirm the existence of a critical spin-phonon coupling α c ∝ ω 0.7 for the onset of the spin gap bearing the signature of a Kosterlitz-Thouless transition. We also observe a classical-quantum crossover when the spin-Peierls gap ∆ is of order ω. In the classical regime, ∆ > ω, the mean-field parameters are strongly renormalized by non-adiabatic corrections. This is the first application of the DMRG to phonons.

Density Matrix Renormalization Group Study of Random Dimerized Antiferromagnetic Heisenberg Chains
The effect of dimerization on the random antiferomagnetic Heisenberg chain with spin 1/2 is studied by the density matrix renormalization group method. The ground state energy, the energy gap distribution and the string order parameter are calculated. Using the finite size scaling analysis, the dimerization dependence of the these quantities are obtained. The ground state energy gain due to dim...
متن کاملStudy of the ionic Peierls-Hubbard model using density matrix renormalization group methods
Density matrix renormalization group methods are used to investigate the quantum phase diagram of a one-dimensional half-filled ionic Hubbard model with bond-charge attraction, which can be mapped from the Su-SchriefferHeeger-type electron-phonon coupling at the antiadiabatic limit. A bond order wave (dimerized) phase which separates the band insulator from the Mott insulator always exists as l...
متن کاملA numerical renormalization group approach for calculating the spectrum of a vibronic system occurring in molecules or impurities in insulators
Theoretically, in order to describe the behavior of a spectrum, a mathematical model whichcould predict the spectrum characteristics is needed. Since in this study a Two-state system has beenused like models which was introduced previously past and could couple with the environment, theformer ideas have been extended in this study. we use the second quantized version for writing thisHamiltonian...
متن کاملA dimerized spin fluid in a one-dimensional electron system
The ground state of a one-dimensional Hubbard model with a bond-charge attraction W term at half-filling is investigated by the density matrix renormalization group method. It is confirmed that the spin gap will be closed at U > 8W . But the long-range bond order wave survives even when the spin gap is closed. It indicates that the ground state is a novel dimerized spin fluid at U > 8W . By a c...
متن کاملBasic properties of three-leg Heisenberg tube
We study three-leg antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model with the periodic boundary conditions in the rung direction. Since the rungs form regular triangles, spin frustration is induced. We use the density-matrix renormalization group method to investigate the ground state. We find that the spin excitations are always gapped to remove the spin frustration as long as the rung coupling is nonzero. W...
